Hey, guys. I'm Fr. Mike.
I combine contemporary personal development strategies with time-tested wisdom to help professional men build lives of purpose and achievement. While my background includes both psychological expertise and spiritual insight, my focus is on practical, results-driven coaching that helps men take control of their future.
Let me tell you a little more about myself.
For over 40 years I've been interested in men’s work, especially in the areas of masculine archetypes, sacred space/time, initiation and rites of passage. I've attended numerous workshops and retreats, including Richard Rohr's Men's Rites of Passage and John Eldredge's Wild At Heart retreat. For two years I serve as a ritual elder for the European Men's Gathering in Denmark. Most recently, I studied with Connor Beaton in his How To Work With Men program.
In my day job, I serve as an Orthodox Priest, a vocation I've filled for nearly three decades. I've spent thousands of hours counselling people with all kinds of problems and thousands more have opened their hearts to me in confession.
In recent years, there has been an influx of younger men into the Church. Working one-on-one with these men has given me deep insight into the problems that all younger men are facing and has allowed me to test and refine many of the elements I use in my coaching program.
Academically, I have a BA in archetypal psychology, an MA in theology, and a PhD in church history & patristics. I taught 5 years at a university. I have done interdisciplinary work in environmentalism, economics, religion, literature, philosophy, politics, social justice, and natural law.
At 53, I fulfilled a life long dream of being a bodybuilder. I competed on stage 12 times over the course of 10 years, including once on a national stage. Being physically fit is fundamental to men optimizing their lives, and you'll find me in the gym 5-6 days a week.
I bring all of these interests together in a comprehensive, integrated way to address the needs of men.
My approach is (1) positive, clarifying your vision for your future; (2) practical, with a bias toward action and personal agency; (3) proven, using the best resources in contemporary personal development, men's work, and the Christian Tradition; and (4) partnered, because we all need accountability and a fellowship of men who have our backs. We'll start where you are, clarify where you want to go, and develop a plan to get you there.
