Fr. Michael is a unique person: he is an Orthodox priest, a professor, a man’s coach, and a bodybuilder. His story is equally unique. For over 40 years, he’s been interested in men’s work, especially masculine archetypes, initiation, and rites of passage. Fr. Michael possesses the wisdom that many young men need to hear nowadays. In the old days, he would have been called “the elder” due to his decades of wisdom, fatherly-like care for others, and handsome white hair that demanded respect and admiration. In this episode, Fr. Michael and I discuss sacred topics of manhood, rites of passage, mentoring approaches, and the issues men face and overcome in today’s wicked society. Unlike most of my episodes, where “iron sharpens iron,” this episode is filled with fatherly-like love and advice for men still trying to find their place in the tribe and earn their rite of passage amongst other men.
